The first city street lights

About that, that in Minsk it is necessary to create an electric lighting system, in the city government they first started talking at the beginning 1892 Mr. In the report of the council to the Minsk City Duma from 20 January 1892 Mr. noted: "City Duma, after listening at the meeting 9 January 1892 Mr. report of the Administration on the introduction of electric lighting in the city, elected a Commission to develop the issue of improving city lighting. Currently the Commission, having considered this issue at meetings 13 and 20 January, by majority vote came to the following conclusion: improvement of city lighting is necessary with electric lighting, at least in the city center 50 lanterns 1 200 candles each, assuming the annual burning of each lantern according to 2 000 hours and with that, so that it costs the city no more 10 000 rub.".

The first sources of electricity in Minsk were put into operation in January 1895 of the year. Then a steam engine with a capacity of 100 l. with. and two cars 50 "horses" with voltage dynamos 110 In direct current. Construction of the power plant was an expensive project, but the city coffers managed to save. Most of the equipment for electrical networks was purchased from the Libavsk state port for 10,5 outside. rub. In the minutes of the Minsk City Duma dated 28 March 1894 Mr. contains an instruction to the mayor Count K. Czapsky “purchase electric lighting according to the attached inventory, and bring it into town, Why allow him to enter into a loan of eleven thousand rubles?. or place a lien on one of the city’s real estate properties for that amount.”.

The demand for electricity has grown rapidly. To meet the city's electricity needs, the city government entered into a contract with the General Electricity Company for 151 outside. rub. IN 1904 Mr. a new power plant building was built on the Svisloch River, and the networks were switched to voltage 440 B on a three-wire system. TO 1917 Mr. the station was equipped with three diesel engines and two steam turbines with a total capacity 1 400 l. with. The power plant building is located on the banks of the Svisloch River next to the building of a modern circus. Electrical networks extend from here to the central part of the city: governor's houses were electrified, Bishop and Zakharyevskaya street.

Minsk became the fourth city of the Russian Empire, where its own power plant started working, becoming on par with Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kyiv.

Soviet power plus electrification

Elvod station was significantly damaged during the First World War. Soon after the October Revolution, active work began to restore the electrical system. From October 1917 Mr. the station began to be called the electric water station and came under the control of the municipal economy council of the executive committee of the Minsk City Council, where she stayed until April 1920 Mr.

Wars prevented further electrification of Minsk: Civil and Soviet-Polish. After their completion, there was an acute shortage of materials and equipment. Literally everything was purchased abroad: electric sockets and light bulbs, wires, switches, ammeters, voltmeter, generator.

In April 1920 Mr. the capital's power plant came under the control of the public utilities department of the Minsk City Council.

In 1920–1921. The GOELRO plan was developed in the USSR (State electrification of Russia), which assumed the comprehensive development of the economy based on a new driving force - electricity. To explain the main ideas of GOERLO in Belarus, Komsomol cells held “Electrification Days”, "Evenings of Ilyich's Light Bulb", propaganda brigades “Red Edisons” were formed, thematic exhibitions “Electrification of the village of the future” were organized, "Electro- hut". To popularize electrification, excursions for workers were organized at the station on Sundays.

IN 1924 Mr. the Elvod station was refurbished and began to supply three-phase alternating current electricity with voltage 6 kV. Based on the order of the Minsk District Council dated 30 April 1926 Mr. № 122 The Elvod electrical and water supply plant was created from an existing electrical wiring station.. The plant consisted of three enterprises: power plants, waterworks and peat mining (peat plant). The Elvod structure included management, electrical and mechanical shops and waterworks. The staff consisted 165 workers.

According to the report on the activities of Elvod for May - August 1927 Mr. and prospects for 1927–1928., the power of the station was “increased by installing diesel engines to 1 300 l. with, and the network up to 30 km". The station operated two turbogenerators (one of them - the German company "Brown Boveri" - still had to be configured), low-power diesel alternator from the Nobel plant, as well as a diesel alternator with a DC generator from the Augsburg plant.

The document noted, that “the main disadvantages of machinery include: unsatisfactory lifting structures on the river. Svisloch, low-power crane and low ceiling of the hall, not allowing for repairs, as well as placing a condensation device in the basement, threatened by spring flood".

Elvod created decent working conditions at peat mining. In the report mentioned above 1927 Mr. indicated: “In the swamp this season there was a fully equipped bathhouse, kitchen, barracks, boilers, outpatient clinic, not counting the 8-apartment building for workers. Dug 2 new wells with completely benign drinking water. There is a club, the radio, playground, giant steps, tourniquet, towns and summer scene".

The process of modernizing the capital's energy system has accelerated thanks to the launch of tram traffic. 27 September 1929 Mr. voltage was applied from the main switchboard of the power plant to the busbars of the tram traction substation 6 kV, a 5 October DC voltage 600 B went along the contact network.

At the same time, Elvod was having difficulty coping with the growing demands of consumers. In a letter from the plant management to the head of Glavelektro in the fall 1929 Mr. noted: "Power supply to the mountains. Minsk is currently not only in unsatisfactory condition, but threatens to shut down mountain enterprises. Minsk <…> A number of enterprises should be transferred to night work, despite heavy losses for industry, related to this.

At the same time, the power plant operates without the necessary reserve of machines and boilers, and in case of imminent malfunctions and possible accidents, entire areas of the city should be switched off this winter.”.

IN 1930 Mr. Minsk power plant reached capacity of 3 000 kW. The energy was used to illuminate the city and ensure the operation of factories and factories..

Narrow-gauge railway tracks run to the station, along which peat was delivered from the Komarovsky swamp by trolleys (territory of modern Peoples' Friendship Park and Bangalore Square). Sparks from steam locomotives threatened wooden houses along the tracks, and the road itself interfered with the improvement of Sovetskaya Street, therefore in 1936 Mr. The city council has developed a project for the delivery of peat by tram platforms.

From the plant to the power plant

In January 1934 Mr. The electric and water plant was renamed Minsk State Power Plant No. 1 (HPP-1), the main tasks of which were the generation and uninterrupted supply of electricity to industrial enterprises and the city's public utilities. Two months later, the first stage of Minsk HPP-2 with a capacity of 6,8 MW. Work on launching the second stage of HPP-2 began in 1940 Mr. A year later, four low-pressure boilers with a capacity of 20 tons of steam per hour and turbine K-4/13-320 capacity 4 MW. Electricity generation by two hydroelectric power plants amounted to 82,4 MW·h per day.

By this time, the capital’s energy system was part of the Belarusian Energy Combine ("Belenergo"), created in 1939 Mr.

The People's Commissariat of Power Plants of the USSR envisaged the construction of new power plants in the BSSR, including CHP. However, the plans were disrupted by war. In June 1941 Mr. stations were suspended.

Return to peaceful life

Restoration of the energy economy, destroyed during the Great Patriotic War, began immediately after the liberation of Belarus in 1944 Mr. HPP-1 resumed operation in July 1944 Mr.

In September 1944 Mr. The Belarusian Energy Plant was reorganized into the Belarusian Regional Energy Management Department ("Belorusenergo"). At the same time, a network of enterprises and organizations subordinate to him was created, in t. h. and in the capital. Belorusenergo was in charge of the Belarusian regional power plant in the working village of Orekhi-Vydritsa, Orsha district, GES-1 and GES-2. Minsk, Department of high-voltage and cable electrical networks and substations as part of Vitebsk, Minsky, Mogilev and Orsha districts (was in Minsk), "Energosbyt" in the capital.

By October 1945 Mr. Minsk CHPP-2 was restored. Turbines of the P-12 type with a capacity of 12 MW and T-15-36/3 capacity 15 MW.V 1948-1950 years. Three medium pressure boilers were put into operation.

Released in February 1946 Mr. The resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR on the construction of tractor and automobile plants in Minsk made the issue of electricity supply even more pressing. HPP-1 and CHPP-2 could not meet the energy needs of new plants, so in March 1946 Mr. a decision was made to build a combined heat and power plant on the site between the automobile and tractor factories (area of the military town Krasnoe tract). And already 6 October 1951 Mr. Thermal Power Plant of the Minsk Tractor Plant, which later became Minsk CHPP-3, generated the first kW·h.

By the end 1950 Mr., when was the Minsk Heating Networks Department organized?, the capital's thermal power plants had on their balance sheets only about 2,6 km of heating networks. Since then, the length of city pipelines has increased more than a thousand times.

December 1952 Mr. "Belorusenergo" decided to terminate the activities of HPP-1 and transfer the equipment, property and documents at the disposal of CHPP No. 2 as a workshop. According to the order of the manager of Belorusenergo dated 2 December 1952 Mr. № 86 the reorganization work had to be completed by the beginning 1953 Mr. Part of the equipment of HPP-1 was transferred by Minsk Electro- networks, Komarovskaya and Molodechnenskaya CHPPs.

With commissioning in 1954 Mr. high voltage line 110 kV "Smolevichi State District Power Plant - Substation Orsha" has taken shape as the central part of the republican energy system. Three years later, Belorusenergo was transformed into the Energy Department of the Council of the National Economy of the BSSR.

However, the tasks of the energy system remain the same, and enterprises in the capital continued to operate as usual. In June 1962 Mr. network districts were abolished as independent self-supporting production enterprises in the electrical networks of the Minsk region.

Birth of Minskenergo

A powerful impetus to the development of energy in Minsk and the region was given by the creation in December 1962 Mr. District Department of Energy and Electrification "Minskenergo", soon transformed into the district energy department (REU). The founder of the enterprise was the Minsk Regional Electric Networks, which included city networks, heating networks, CHPP-2, Energonadzor, as well as Minsk, Slutsk, Borisov and Molodechno electric networks. At that time, Minskenergo employed about 400 Human. The enterprise provided electricity and heat to the capital of the republic and one of the largest regions - Minsk, whose territory was 40,8 outside. km2, and the population is about 3,2 million people.

  • Vasily Pavlovich Smagin – Director of Minsk Regional Electric Grids, manager of REU Minskenergo in 1962–1977.
